Timoteo Underwear is one of the modern waves of new men's underwear brands that cropped up in the last decade which have diversified the product design and marketing landscape dramatically. Cellblock 13 is an offshoot label that was created in 2012 by Timoteo to cater to more edgy, fetish-inspired undergear.

TOP FAVORITE ASPECT

The design of this brief has a lot of nicely executed elements that contribute to an overall strong and dynamic look for this brief.

LEAST FAVORITE ASPECT

The only very minor negative element I found to call out on this undergarment was the slight tightness of the leg-bands which might have been better served with a little less tension on the elastic.

MATERIAL

Cellblock 13 has branched out to utilize a variety of fabrics for their underwear including mesh and neoprene but this Viper brief uses good old cotton spandex in a blend that is very soft to the touch and offers a medium level of stretch. The cotton is actually a bit thinner than the design "look" implies which isn't a bad thing. The material still feels substantial and not too bulky which is helpful considering all the layering the contrast piping elements require on the front pouch.

As I mentioned the stretch is about average and pretty even in both directions although I'd say it feels like there's a bit more vertical stretch than horizontal.

The primary colors of the brief are very nicely saturated in their respective hues with even treatment across the front and back.

The large exposed waistband is made from a brushed microfiber and provides a solid amount of stretch with a smooth interior and exterior finish.

FIT

I've worn Timoteo underwear before and not surprisingly Cellblock 13 underwear seems to follow the same sizing range with the medium fitting a standard North American 32" - 34" waist. The oversized exposed elastic waistband is comfortable and feels very secure without being restricting. Along the leg-bands you'll find contrasting reinforced elastic provides a firm fit around the pouch and back although I found it just a bit overly restrictive for my larger upper legs.

The pouch appears quite roomy but interestingly enough I found it a bit restricting when worn with a slightly "snug" feeling to it. It's not uncomfortable in any way but I do think guys who might be noticeably above average in the endowment category might not find this the most comfortable option to wear. For the rest of the population you'll find the pouch provides enough room with a nice bit of lift and enhancement thanks tot he structured pouch which is nicely curved.

The back is full coverage with a nice balance of material that doesn't sag in any place and will suit a broad range of guys.

The leg-bands are the only area that gave me a bit of a pause in terms of fit and overall I found these to be very nicely engineered briefs that provided good overall comfort for extended periods of time.

DESIGN & STYLE

There's not mistaking the branding on this brief given the bold graphic logo lettering that runs around the waistband. Considering you're already a fan of the look of the label I think the visual graphic is distinctive and provides something different to look at over regular exposed elastic waistbands. The extra height of the elastic conveys a masculine sensibility and fits the desired personality of the label well.

Besides the graphic waistband the other major design element of this brief is the colorblock pouch which is assembled with a mix of contrasting black and color fabric accented with bold white accent piping. The colorblocking design is bold and visually distinct from most other underwear labels. The proportions of the different pieces that make up the pouch feel well thought-out and strategic with a good overall balance across the front. I think the key that makes the design element work so well is that the color blocking conveys a masculine and functional sensibility that matches the brand messaging and concept very closely.

Another design element that is otherwise hidden but nonetheless appreciated is a very bold and eye-pleasing logo patch on the interior-back of the waistband. This is used partly to smooth the transition of the elastic waistband seam but also provides another nice visual treatment that goes beyond the basics. The logo patch is a woven smooth and shiny fabric sewn flat against the waistband. Given how nice the logo patch is, it's kind of disappointing to see the less than premium paper tag sticking out to the right of it. I will say that if there's going to be a secondary tag made of paper attached to the main logo patch at least this one is facing off to the side where it's going to be less obtrusive from a wearing and visual impact perspective.

Although less on the fetish extreme as some of the alternate Cellblock 13 offerings I can see this brief working as an Erotic item but also a Night Out and even All-Day wear option.

At $24/pair I think you're getting a good value for your money as there's a very substantial feeling to these briefs with plenty of design elements that require extra labor to construct adding to the underlying cost of the brief. This falls into the "Premium" category but I think you're paying the right amount for what you get.

CONSTRUCTION & CARE

Although this was my first Cellblock 13 item I've purchased several Timoteo underwear items before so I expected solid construction and thankfully I wasn't disappointed. The sewing quality on this brief was really impressive with some of the most clean and straight seams I've seen on any underwear item. The join of the brief to the waistband is remarkable for how smooth the transition is with absolutely perfect edges on the fabric and very minimal loose or haphazard threads to be seen.

The durability of this brief feels very good with plenty of strong stitching applied to every part of this brief to ensure all the elements are going to hold together through multiple wash and wear cycles. The instructions on the tag say to use a cold water wash (not specific on hand or machine but I'll assume machine) and low heat tumble dry so you don't have to worry too much about being overly delicate with cleaning this item.
